As this particular style of top is making a comeback this year due to the throwback YK2 trend, I wanted to show you how you can create your version simply by using an old item from your autumn and winter wardrobe. If you have a turtleneck top you no longer wear or want to repurpose, you can easily turn it into a boob tube top with a few simple steps. In this blog post, I will guide you through the process of creating a boob tube top out of a turtleneck top.
- Turtleneck top
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
Step 1: Measure and Cut The first step is to measure the length of the turtleneck top and determine how long you want the boob tube top to be. Use the measuring tape to measure from the top of the turtleneck to the desired length. Mark this length with a marker or chalk. Then, use scissors to cut along the marked line.
Step 2: Remove the Sleeves Once you have cut the turtleneck to the desired length, the next step is to remove the sleeves. Cut off the sleeves at the seam where they are attached to the body of the top. Be careful not to cut into the body of the top.
Step 3: Hem the Edges and add accessories After removing the sleeves, you need to hem the edges of the top to prevent fraying. After you've completed this, you can add whatever accessories you'd like to clothing to make it fit your style. For this top, I added some patches as I wanted to give this red number a rock-n-roll edge.
