First Date Advice: What to Wear and How to Plan that First Meet up

January 10, 2019

When it comes to arranging the first meet up with someone you've got to know on a dating app like Tinder or Bumble it can be a mixture of emotions exciting, nerve-wracking or pretty stressful especially when you don't know where you're meeting. But, before I go into what I'd wear on a first date. I thought about how women can have the choice of where dates takes place.

I've noticed that the majority of my first dates have been in bars. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for socialising and getting to meet new people, but I’m not a big drinker. So, why should I be forced to drink if I don’t want too?

This conversation came about after chatting to several single friends who have experience online dating. I wanted to know their thoughts on first date locations, and If they’ve felt like they had to drink alcohol to spend time with a man or woman they’ve met.

When I lived in central Leeds. I felt like this was something that happened on the regular for many singletons, as you have the flexibility of working and living in the city centre. But, what if boozing isn’t your thing? Should you be forced to stay in a bar and buy rounds to spend time with someone? No, you shouldn’t.

Instead, I’d recommend chatting to the person you’re getting to know on or offline and giving them some suggestions of where you’d like to meet. Some of my recommendations would be either a coffee in a local cafe, brunch or a fun activity like mini golf.

When it comes to outfits, your main aim is to the show the person the best version of you. So where an outfit which truly represents your personality and sense of style. For this rendezvous,I wore my Rookie Green band t-shirt and my mom jeans  with my leather jacket and ankle heeled boots.  I decided to go this ensemble as I wanted to show my music taste and relaxed nature when it comes to meeting new people. Also, this outfit is ideal if you’re going to extend your day out as is suitable for the evening especially when paired with a bright lip-don’t forget your lipstick, you’ll need to top up!
